The museum was created from the private home of Édouard André and Nélie Jacquemart, devoted their considerable fortune to buying works of art:

– The great staircase by the architect, Henri Parent
– The Italian museum with works by Botticelli, Ucello, Mantegna, Bellini, Carpaccio…
– The Café Jacquemart-André, one of the most beautiful in Paris
The forecourt and a salon were used during filming of Gigi (1958 film).
