The Musée Grévin is a waxwork museum in Paris, one of the oldest in Europe, located  in the IXe arrondissement  at 10, Boulevard Montmartre. The Musée Grévin now contains some 300 characters arranged in scenes from the history of France and modern life, including a panorama of French history from Charlemagne to Napoleon III, bloody scenes of the French Revolution, movie stars, and international figures such as Albert Einstein, Mahatma Gandhi, and Pope John Paul II.

Rue de Vaugirard is the longest road in Paris, at 4.3 km. It spans the 6th and 15th arrondissements, from the Latin Quarter towards the edge of Paris at the Porte de Versailles. The road appeared in the fifteenth century, and led from Philip II’s city walls towards the village of Vaugirard. This route was itself based on an old Roman road.

Les Halles is located in the 1er arrondissement, it was the traditional central market of Paris which was demolished in 1971 (the wholesale market was relocated to the suburb of Rungis) to be replaced with an underground modern shopping precinct, the Forum des Halles.Beneath this is the underground station Châtelet-Les-Halles, a central hub of Paris’s express commuter rail system, the RER.

The Latin Quarter of Paris (Quartier latin) is an area in the 5th and parts of the 6th arrondissement of Paris.  The area gets its name from the Latin language, which, as the international language of learning in the Middle Ages, was once widely spoken in and around the University. Known for its lively atmosphere and bistros, the Latin Quarter is the home to a number of higher education establishments besides the university itself, such as the École Normale Supérieure, the École des Mines de Paris (a ParisTech institute), the Schola Cantorum, and the Jussieu university campus.

The Hôtel de Cluny was once the town house of the abbots of Cluny and is now the Musée de Cluny, an important museum containing a variety of artifacts from the Middle Ages.
The Collège de Sorbonne, founded in 1257, was a constituent of the University of Paris although, at least in the 20th century, the term Sorbonne has been applied to the whole of the University. The University was broken up in 1970 into 13 universities. Three of them contain Sorbonne in their names (University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne, University of Paris III: Sorbonne Nouvelle and University of Paris IV: Paris-Sorbonne) and are nearby.
The Collège de France, founded in 1530, a higher research establishment, is also nearby.

The station was given its current name in 1989, soon after the opening of the new entrance to the Louvre Museum. It is named after the nearby Palais Royal and the Louvre. The entrance on Place Colette was redesigned by Jean-Michel Othoniel. In 2000, a century after Hector Guimard, he  transformed the Palais Royal-Musée du Louvre into the Kiosque des Noctambules: two crowns made of glass and aluminum conceal a bench designed for chance encounters in the sleepy city.
