The Comédie-Française, a state theater  located in the Ier arrondissement of Paris, has its own troupe of actors. It was founded by a decree of Louis XIV. The repertoire at that time consisted of the collection of theatrical works by Molière and Jean Racine. The Comédie-Française today has a repertoire of 3,000 works and three theaters in Paris (salle Richelieu, next to the Palais Royal; théâtre du Vieux-Colombier; Studio-Théâtre).

An absolute must-see, in the center of Paris: the Square du Vert-Galant is a park named in honour of Henry IV, nicknamed the “Green Gallant”, located Ile de la Cité, 1st arrondissement.

The Théâtre du Châtelet and the Théâtre de la Ville, ttwo identical theatres, with a fountain and an open plaza, the Place du Châtelet, between them, were constructed along the quays of the Seine. Built on the site of a châtelet, a small castle or fortress, it was designed by Gabriel Davioud at the request of Baron Haussmann between 1860 and 1862. The Châtelet concentrates mainly on opera and classical music, with occasional ballet, and usually has a rich program of international performers. The other theatre, previously named the Sarah Bernhardt and now known as the Théâtre de la Ville, offers top names in contemporary dance, innovative French theatre, and evening concerts of jazz or world music.

Place Vendôme is one of the best squares in Paris, located in the 1st arrondissement.
It was designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart. Known as Place des Conquêtes, to the glory of the armies of Louis XIV. The Column was erected by Napoleon to celebrate the victory of Austerlitz. Location of the Ritz Hotel, Cartier, Chaumet and Charvet.

Les Halles is located in the 1er arrondissement, it was the traditional central market of Paris which was demolished in 1971 (the wholesale market was relocated to the suburb of Rungis) to be replaced with an underground modern shopping precinct, the Forum des Halles.Beneath this is the underground station Châtelet-Les-Halles, a central hub of Paris’s express commuter rail system, the RER.

Daniel Buren, a French conceptual artist, created in 1986 a 3,000 m² sculpture in the great courtyard of the Palais Royal, in Paris, the Buren’s Columns.

The Pont Neuf (New Bridge) is the oldest bridge across the river Seine in Paris, France. Its name, which was given to distinguish it from older bridges that were lined on both sides with houses, has remained. In 1577, the decision to build the bridge was made by King Henry III.
